CySEC Certification Examination Preparation Course (Advanced)

The development of technology and the events of the new millennium in the financial sector have led regulators worldwide to legislate the training of executives and employees who hold key positions in the sector. The sector experienced an exponential development that continues even today, creating the need for personnel with this specific training. According to the statistics published by the Ministry of Labour, Welfare and Social Insurance, as well as private employment agencies, the financial sector is 3 rd in number of job openings with approximately 20% being positions that require certified candidates.

Aim

The aim of the program is to provide learners with the necessary knowledge and skills for successful preparation and success in the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) certification exams for both Advanced and Basic training.

Objectives:

  • To understand the regulatory framework of the CySEC and identify its requirements.
  • To state the main provisions of the control and supervision of the financial system, the competent authorities, their powers and responsibilities.
  • To demonstrate knowledge of laws, regulations and directives related to the financial services industry in Cyprus.
  • To understand and explain the conditions and the procedure for an organization to obtaining a license authorization from CySEC.
  • To explain the operational requirements of supervised organizations in relation to operating licences.
  • To describe the duties and obligations of key positions of the supervised organizations in relation to the regulatory framework of operation.
  • To list and carry out the reporting procedures with the appropriate information to the CySEC.
  • To develop the necessary skills and knowledge to successfully prepare for and pass the CySEC certification exams for both Advanced and Basic.
  • To create and implement procedures and practices for the organization’s compliance with the requirements of its operating license.
  • To carry out control and reporting procedures of the organization to the Greek Cypriot Council.
  • To perform the tasks of the key positions of the organization based on the regulatory requirements. Maintain a record of appropriate information and retrieve necessary data for reference.
  • To prepare and submit internal reporting reports to the board of directors, as well as external reporting reports for the CySEC.
  • To design manuals of procedures for the employees of the organization who work.
  • To accept the necessity and training of compliance with the regulatory framework of the regulatory authorities.
  • To protect themselves and the organization they work for in matters of regulatory compliance. Monitor and react in a timely manner to changes in the regulatory framework regarding the organization’s operating license.
  • To encourage a culture of regulatory compliance in corporate governance and a culture of training in the organization.
  • To adopt evaluation procedures of the existing procedures for the compliance of the organization with the regulatory framework of its operating license. Encourage staff to actively participate in the organization’s compliance with the regulatory framework of its operating license.

Target audience:

Individuals seeking a career in the financial industry by obtaining CySEC’s Advance certificate, which is a prerequisite for filling senior management positions in financial services companies. The certificate can also be used by industry support service providers who wish to improve the knowledge and expertise of their staff.

Registration Procedure for Examinations

In order to register for the CySEC examinations, prospective candidates are required to book their exam date through the CySEC website.

Examination Fees

In order to take the examinations, interested individuals are required to pay the CySEC examination fees currently, €200 to take the Basic Examination or €300 to take the Advanced Examination. Following the examination, successful candidates need to complete the CySEC Registration Form and send it to certifications@cysec.gov.cy in order to become registered in the CySEC Public Registry of Certified Persons. Registration is valid for one year.

*Participation Contribution Discount for individuals who are not HRDA Subsidy eligible. **HRDA-approved seminars are exempt from VAT for eligible organizations applying for the HRDA subsidy. For seminars and participants who do not qualify for the HRDA subsidy, a 19% VAT will apply. 

Participation Contribution| Unemployed 

Persons who are registered as unemployed are allowed two free seminars every year if they bring the relevant permit from the Public Employment Service office.
